    I get no detonation with 94 octane + 6psi + 8 degrees timing.

The A/F goes black lean at tip in, but I don't hear a thing.

Wait for the Zydne ECU and the problem will be solved.

I never quite understood what tip-in detonation was. When I step on the gas, in any gear until I hit the rev limit, I'm in the green of the A/F guage.

Is tip in detonation a brief lean led before going to rich? If so, I've never seen this happen in my car.

I heard even with the zdyne the problem isn't completely solved yet.

At least with high boost applications I believe.

This is what Larry over at endyn said anyway.

If so, what should I do to minimize this? My timing is set at 10 degree. Thanks.

    JRSC @ 6psi
    JR fuelpump

Well, out of curiousity, I gunned it at 3K RPM's in 4th gear and my A/F ratio IMMEDIATELY showed rich. There is not time at all in which the lights go off or show lean.

Maybe Four Door GSR is right and this is a OBDII problem?

Me too. I've never had this problem. The A/F goes rich almost instantly. I think, however, that JeffM's idea about using the pressure switch relay to trick the ECU into seeing WOT signal from the TPS when there's boost is worth trying. This takes the system out of closed loop so the ECU isn't fighting with the FPR (one trying to increase fuel delivery while the other is trying to reduce it). It may also cause a little bit of timing to be pulled out sooner, which might help the problem as well. I may try this after I get my car smog checked. Unfortunately, as my car's a '94, my results will only apply to OBD I.

rjaffey: but you have the cartech right? That is supposed to "react" faster. Did you see this when you switched from the JR FPR?

I also have the cartech on my '95 gs-r and I don't really see a tip-in problem. I see a couple lights now and then but the A/F mix looks OK...maybe my J&S is set slightly too sensitve. I dunno I've only had the blower on for a week so I'm still experimenting.

You know what I realized? When I punched the gas doing my above experiment, I didn't go to WOT, so I never went into open loop. I'll have to look at the A/F while I really floor it.

rjaffey: What's this idea you're talking about? Tricking the TPS signal to be WOT?

Tell me more or point me in the right direction. I feel like being a guinea pig, and since I have a conservative setup, potential harm is minimal.

i notice the tip in bog down, but not any detonation, you dont need to go wot to notice it, just cruisse, and then give it a little gas and watch your boost gauge and a/f at the same time, when you cross from vacuum into boost, you will see your a/f go full lean, i notice a little bog in the engine, but dont hear any detonation, there is also a little bog when going from boost to vacuum as well...at least that is what happens to me
